rapper4mpi 0 #1 February 12, 2002 I'm sure this question has been asked before. But I'm looking for opinions on the Vector 3 Micron, good things and bad things about the rig. Specifically how it relates to freeflying. I'm NOT asking how it compares to other rigs. I've done my research and want the facts on the Micron. Thank you.-Rap
SkydiveMonkey 0 #2 February 12, 2002 Have you looked at the reviews in the gear section? You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!!
rapper4mpi 0 #3 February 12, 2002 Yes I've read all the published reviews, but I was looking to see if there was any other opinions out there. Maybe there just isn't much to say?-Rap
skycat 0 #4 February 12, 2002 Since I doubt Derek reads this forum, I'll answer this for him. This rig is solid, basically as solid as the mirage (my rig) we have done tons of comparing of the 2. He jumps the 304 which is the smallest one they make, and I jump an MXS which is the second smallest mirage. Anyway it's easy to compare them to eachother. Riser covers are excellent he has never had anything come undone in freefall, I find them kind of a pain to pack though cause of the way the secondary riser covers work. Also on his I think the main pin cover is to narrow, it leaves you with out any place to put the excess bridal that is above the pin. On my mirage it's about twice as wide and just lays on the top flap under the pin flap without sticking out where his sticks out if you don't stuff it back under the outside flap. (Ok this is really hard to explain) This could only be an issues cause the container is so small. He is also a rigger, so I've seen the inside of both of them the reserve are done basicaly the same. The micron though does not have mesh on the pilotchute. Also you will want to find a rigger how knows how to pack them, cause I've seen alot of vectors and mirages where the top reserve flap kind of sticks up so the reserve pin cover flap doesn't lay flat but actually bends down to fit into the pocket on the mirage or to fold under on the micron. (this really is just cosmetic but I'm a chick and into that kind of stuff)For freeflying it is definately one of the best. I was debating between the 2 but ended up going with the mirage cause it was prettier.Kelli

Likely cause of that is too much bulk in the top of the reserve container (bottom of the freebag). Besides looking bad, it can also affect your comfort - both containers can be uncomfortable as all hell if the reserve isn't packed correctly. Like Kelli said, find a rigger who knows how to pack them and it's not a problem.pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo?
