crapflinger2000 1 #1 July 30, 2003 OK... In anticipation of my NOT receiving any replacement risers from my current vendor of choice (they are lagging badly), how about this. I picked my current vendor because they are the only ones that cap the ends of their inserts. A replacement vendor (the Mirage guys I think) does not do this, but can't we just work around the perceived problem by trimming the cables down to a length where the ends will not stick out the ends of the channels (which is the point of the caps)... __________________________________________________ What would Vic Mackey do? hookitt 1 #2 July 30, 2003 Yes you can, but capping then makes it idiot proof. By the way, I just got my new grommet smasher. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
crapflinger2000 1 #3 July 30, 2003 Yeah, well, in the interest of getting rid of the black death reverse riser, no channel inserts at all risers I currently jump, I think I will have to settle for non-idiot proof.... BTW, the correct technical term is "Grommet - Squeeze - Together-er" __________________________________________________ What would Vic Mackey do? PhreeZone 20 #4 July 30, 2003 One west coast loft made me some risers that all they did was take the metal insert and pounded the one end shut. Put Hookitts grommet smasher to work Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Hooknswoop 19 #5 July 30, 2003 Quotecan't we just work around the perceived problem by trimming the cables down to a length where the ends will not stick out the ends of the channels (which is the point of the caps)... The caps prevent the inserts from sliding out of the channels and through the 3-ring locking loop in the event the tacking loosens/fails. This only works if the cables are long enough to prevent the inserts from sliding down, i.e. the cap hit the end of the cables before the other end of the insert goes through the 3-ring locking loop. I wouldn't recommend trimming the cables in case you ever replace the inserts with capped inserts. Also, you can put the inserts completely at the top of the channel on the rear risers, preventing any cable from being exposed at the top of a non-capped insert. crapflinger2000 1 #6 July 30, 2003 Aiight... that's why I liked the Mirage ones... they come from the factory tacked up the ass all the way to the top of the channel... I am giving vendor A a couple more days to get me some info.... hopefully they will come through for me... __________________________________________________ What would Vic Mackey do? Yup that was the idea. Until I order some capped inserts any way. And we can cork it for the time being also. (work arounds...sheesh... now I'm sounding lazy) by the way Crapflinger...it's smasher, squeeze isn't something you do with a hammer. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry...
