Yet another Skyhook question...

Recommended Posts

If your buddy insists on having a Skyhook, but is equally adamant about not buying a Vector, then tell him to buy a Sorcerer BASE rig or a skydiving rig from Advance. Advance is a French company that has been building Javelin-like rigs for years with an older, more complicated RSL system that functions like a Skyhook. Older Advance rigs look like Javelins at arm's length. The latest Advance rig looks more like a Vector 2 at arm's length.

Personally, I would take line twists on a reserve any day over trying to regain stability for the rest of my life.

I'm no patent lawyer, so what would I know, but isn't there some sort of compulsory licensing regulations that can force a patent holder to give fair and reasonable licenses to their patents? Anti-trust regs?

Other manufacturers will have to actually show interest in the Skyhook for their own products -- that will involve lots of testing on THEIR rigs, which costs money. My hunch is that they'll let some field research be conducted, courtesy of Vector3 owners, before they make the investment.
