RevJim 0 #1 July 13, 2003 Hey all! I've got 2 rigs, one with standard and one with mini risers/rings. The rig with the standard risers is a Vector, and the risers are way to long for me. I know I can't use standard rings in a harness that was made for mini risers, but I was wondering, before I try, can I use mini risers/rings in a harness system that was built for standard rings? It's your life, live it! hookitt 1 #2 July 13, 2003 Yes, you can use the minis on standard size rings. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

RevJim 0 #5 July 13, 2003 Whew! Thanks for the replies all. I'm getting new risers for my Jav. Replacing the mini's with velcroless minis, and figured I could just use the velcro minis on the Vector, since they are just the right length for me. Much cheaper than buying 2 new sets! Clownburner 0 #6 July 14, 2003 I've seen it done a few times but I don't know exactly how bad it really is...I remember Bill Booth actually saying that although this would technically work it wasn't recommended because when you mess with the ratio between the large and medium rings you break the lever relationship - leading to a very low mechanical advantage (much lower than a properly made set of mini-rings). This might lead to a hard cutaway, esp. with a highly loaded or elliptical canopy. But you get to decide for yourself if it's worth it.7CP#1 | BTR#2 | Payaso en fuego Rodriguez "I want hot chicks in my boobies!"- McBeth
waltappel 1 #7 July 16, 2003 How about going to the source? Here is the e-mail address for the Relative Workshop. Doesn't matter what kind of rig you have--they invented the three-ring release system. rws@relativeworkshop.com

billbooth 10 #9 July 16, 2003 Mini risers are OK on large harness rings sometimes. It depends on a lot of variables. Are the large rings RW-1's or RW 10's? Which standard are the mini risers made to? How much do you weigh? Do you jump an elliptical that is likely to give you a high "G" spinning malfunction? "Modern" canopies can put a lot of demands on the 3 ring system. If you're at the high end of the envelope, your 3 ring needs to be "perfect". If you are at the low end, you can "get away" with a less perfect system.
