heftee 0 #1 July 8, 2003 I am needing to buy shorter risers. I currently have velcro and have no issues with them, am used to them, and like the way I store the excess brake line. My friend has tuck tabs and routes his excess brake lines in an odd way (odd because I'm not used to it) but really likes those as well. What are the pros and cons of each and which do you recommend? Are there any safety issues with one over the other that I should know about? Thanks for your help. ------------------------- "If you've never jumped out of a plane, the best way I can describe it is it feels as if you've just jumped out of a freakin' plane." andy2 0 #2 July 8, 2003 im pretty new to skydiving, but I think youre talking about velcro or velcroless risers. Velcroless risers wear the brake line less. On veclro risers the hook portion of the velcro can catch the lines and fray them. Also velcro should be replaced after ~100-200 uses (if you read hooknswoop's gear tips). I think most experienced people prefer velcroless for these reasons. On velcro risers (which I have) I've been told to always place the toggles onto the velcro right after I land, so that it won't catch any lines on it. Hopefully someone else will chime in if I've missed anything. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... Ira 0 #3 July 8, 2003 Velcro Risers can also grab the wrists of your jumpsuit and pick the crap out of them when you are holding your toggles in full flight.
drenaline 0 #4 July 9, 2003 I really don't like velcro, they can damage the lines if you are not careful and they wear in time. Tuck tabs have no velcro mmm... I dunno what else to say. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
