blocking part of an image

Recommended Posts

This isn't for a skydive video, but I was curious if anyone out there knows how to block out part of a video image in either Premiere Elements or Vegas Movie Studio. Basically I want to play the full image, but one corner of it needs to be blocked out or blurred so the viewer can't see it.

"Holy s*** that was f***in' cold!"

In Elements you can build a new solid object and just overlay it on the timeline and scale it down to cover up your object.

I assume its a logo or web address you are trying to cover? Blur can work but I dislike covering any watermark up, if you MUST use footage like this you might find it works better to just zoom and crop the video.

Vegas; Add Generated Media, track motion to place it in the corner.
Looking to kill a logo or timestamp?
Virtual Dub has a plugin that will do a reasonable job on timestamps, but it won't remove a logo/watermark.

Probably not very useful for the OP, but mplayer/mencoder has a delogo filter which actually does a pretty good job at this. Just put a box around the logo and it'll interpolate the edges over the logo. Or even better, provide it with an image of the logo and it will only touch the pixels you indicate in the image.

Not that you'd ever want to remove a watermark / logo. *cough*
