Rick2 0 #1 February 5, 2010 Figures of Japan GfK Retail & Technology reveal that the market share of Blu-ray recorders exceeded 50 percent for DVD (Digital Versatile Disk) recorders in unit terms. One of the major and primary reasons that boosted the conversion rate towards the blu-ray disk technology was the increase in Flat Panel Television’s sales. http://www.tape4backup.com/lto-1-tapes.php LTO 1 tape | http://www.tape4backup.com/lto-2-tapes.php LTO 2 tape | http://www.lto3tape.com LTO 3 tape | http://www.lto5.com LTO 5 tape
DSE 5 #2 February 5, 2010 True, but... Japan ain't the rest of the world. As much as I love what BD is...if they don't do something QUICKLY for mass replication, BD will die a fast death. My company is heavily vested in BD and BD authoring. But..they've made it so expensive to license a replication process, many studios are holding out for HTML 5 and/or new Flash delivery technologies on disc and on the 'net due to the horrible costs currently associated with replicating BD content. I see all your links, what is the point in anyone using LTO in this day and age? DDP can be delivered on disc as DDP layer 0 and 1 unless one is authoring with Apple, and even then, HDD is so much more reliable and cost-effective compared to LTO drives.
