mrbiceps 0 #1 October 18, 2009 Who uses a cx-12 out there? The web site says that this baby is capable of 10 mega pixel still images. I am trying to get into videoing tandems and the guys all use still camera like 450 - 500d as well as the video cameras and was wondering how the quality of the stills u can take off the footage using the cx12 are like. I understand that the 500d will take a better quality picture than the cx12, but i am wondering just how good the picture is and if its good enough to sell to the customers. thanks guys
DSE 5 #2 October 19, 2009 this comes up a lot. Probably should be part of the sticky. These cams have crummy lenses, fair imagers, and cannot remotely compete with DSLR's or even cheap point n' shoots. Still images are an afterthought, a marketing bullet point overall. They cannot shoot very many stills during freefall while recording video. Megapixels mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. Resolution is half the equation when considering perception of a photo, but the weak lens, poor imager, and overall system don't provide the kind of contrast that you might expect. verticalflyer 11 #3 October 20, 2009 Just to be ultra clear the frame grab is not 10MP you have to switch to the stills mode to take a 10mp image and as already expressed, the lense quality and setup on the video Vs a decent DSLR is not even in the same state let alone ball park.Dont just talk about it, Do it! billvon 3,120 #4 October 20, 2009 With a very good lens I can get reasonable pictures with a CX100, but for anything more than tandem pictures printed in 3x5 format you'll want something better.
