hedda 0 #1 September 5, 2009 from next season off here in Norway, I´m gonna be a videographer for tandem and AFF, planning on buying a cookie MXV helmet, and stick the Canon 400D on top, and have the video sidemounted. I´m a small girl, and want as little weight as possible on my head. Therefore I want the smallest videocam possible, so the Sony TG series should be great, but is the quality good enough for filming tandems/ AFF and also funjumping freefly?? Does anyone know? And which one is best of the 1/5/7 ? Experiences? Also any experiences with the CX 105 would be great if you have some to shareHedda
DSE 5 #2 September 5, 2009 in terms of quality, the 1/5/7 are all the same encoder. I've no experience with the 5 or 7, so can't comment from there. The quality of the TG 1's image is just fine for tandems, but I don't know if the camera will hold up well enough, unless you've got a Cookie or other housing for it. The CX105 is a great little brick cam for what it is, there is a huge thread already dedicated to that subject, please use that as your source of information on the camera. If your jump numbers are accurate, there is the obligatory caution about doing too much at once. Start with video for at least 100 jumps; get familiar with the weight, sight picture, and flying with eyes in the back of your head before attempting to put on a ring sight and still camera. Putting all things on the helmet at once is begging for some kind of trouble either major or minor. Read Cameras 101 on the homepage, read the sticky at the top of this forum. Welcome to camera flying!
hedda 0 #3 September 5, 2009 Thank you for words of wisdom, ofcourse I´m gonna start easy, I´m very excited but also nervous about the camera on top (I have the Canon 400D, so it´s quite big) , so I´ll give it a soft start with only video, and take it from there. Again, thanks a lot. :)
