noob seeking advice

Recommended Posts

Howdy all,

I'm getting close to the recommended 200 jumps and C license. But the down side is I'm just coming off a lay off. So as much as I'd like to strap the camera on at 200 I think I'll give it a little while longer to make sure skydiving has really "come back" to me. My question is how long should that be. I was out for 4 years between jumps 196 and 197. The re-currency jump went well so I didn't forget everything. I was thinking probably another 30 jumps before I think about the camera. Does that sound too long? too short? just right?

Additionally I have dug out the used camera helmet I purchased a while back and am trying to get it ready for its beer jump with me. I've attached some pictures of it. Any advice on what to do to get it ready to go? I do plan on taking it out to the DZ and have the video guys out there look at it too. Just thought I would get a head start.

Thanks in advance guys.

A thunder of jets in a clear blue sky, a streak of gray and a cheerful "Hi"

IMO, you're doing the best thing for yourself and others if you go out and do a few more than 30 more jumps before putting on the camera. All/most of those jumps should be relative work jumps just to be sure you can get in/get out of tight situations.

The helmet looks great, in that it doesn't have stills doesn't have ringsight...nice n' stripped for getting started, nd then you'll eventully end up putting more into it as you gain more experience.
