Bill_K 0 #1 December 31, 2008 Hey guys, I have an old case that I used to use when I was on the road some years back. The hard foam in it was/is cut for tools that I no longer have/use. Now I'm wanting to re-purpose the case to use it for storing my camera equipment in. Video and Still/Lens's. I've been all over the internet, eBay, etc. I have some ideas, but thought I'd see what you guys do when you need to replace the foam or change it up in your cases. Right now I'm leaning toward a local arts and craft's store that sells foam sheet. The density is not quite as dense as I'd like, but I think it will work ok. Before I spend the $$ though I thought I'd see what you guys are using? Thanks, BK
pilotdave 0 #2 December 31, 2008 Pelican cases use foam that's scored so little blocks of it can be removed in whatever shape you want. They seem to sell replacement foam, but it's not cheap and they dont describe what you get on the site. Dave

Bill_K 0 #7 January 1, 2009 I wish more of these places would put measurements on their foam pieces. My case is not a pelican, but it is about the size of their 15xx series. I may order some of the replacement for that one and see what I get...

Zeemax 0 #10 January 1, 2009 If you don't mind it looking a little 'ghetto', just go to your local auto parts dealer and buy some big assed car washing sponges. Cut them down to fit around your gear. You may need to glue some together with a hot glue gun to the get the width you need, but with a bit of time, you can make it look pretty neat. The density of the foam is great for this type of thing and it's certainly a lot cheaper!
