Demian 0 #1 June 18, 2003 I have an oddball question regarding jumpsuits. I can't really spend $200+ on a brand-new jumpsuit right now. I've seen some in-expensive suits on Ebay, but they were somewhat ugly. Now, what I'm wondering is....can jumpsuits be dyed? I'm not familiar with the material used in the suits, so I don't know how they would react to being dyed. Any suggestions? Remember when sex was safe, and skydiving was dangerous? Blahr 0 #2 June 18, 2003 Well the suits made from a Polyester/Cotton blend should take dye alright but im just speculating. I would think that Supplex might not take a pigment well. Once again I'm speculating :-)
TequilaGirl 0 #3 June 18, 2003 They sure can - I have tie dyed some.......
Demian 0 #4 June 18, 2003 Yeah it was the spandex and nylon that I was wondering about.. Well I figure that if I see a suit on there for $30, it's no great loss if it doesn't work.. There was a Tony Suit on ebay for $27 that looked alot like Perris's student suits, and looked like the person wearing had taken a few too many dirt dives, and grass skids..... wmw999 2,584 #5 June 18, 2003 Ugly jumpsuit: $27 A couple of patches: $20 (assuming you have someone else do them -- much less if you do them yourself) Tie-dye to make it a little less ugly: $5.00 Jumpsuit you can put your own dirt and grass stains onto, so that you can concentrate on landing safely rather than always standing up to protect your jumpsuit: $52. Works for me. By the time you really need a new jumpsuit, you might have different gear anyway, and then the colors still won't match. fundgh 0 #7 June 18, 2003 You can always go to the army surplus store and grab some coveralls. They work and look gnarly...why conform and try to look like a REAL skydiver-----Function before Fashion!...FUN FOR ALL!
Demian 0 #8 June 18, 2003 That was actually one consideration I'd had.. Another was just to guy a pair of regular cargo pants at the store, and add elsatic or somethign to make them tight at the ankles, and just use them... baa75 0 #9 June 18, 2003 Just keep an eye on those auctions and check the classifieds on here. Also check in with the used gear at the gear stores online. I can understand if something is just plain ugly but a lot of people have suits that don’t match their gear. I seriously went nutz just trying to find used gear that fit. I got my RW & FF suits both off Ebay for $50 each & I don’t care that they’re not in perfect condition. They both fit well (surprising since I’m 5’5” & 125 lbs) AND at least I had something to wear while I saved $ and decided what I wanted for a brand new suit. I just got my HotBod suit a few days ago & can’t wait to jump it but I’m REALLY glad I had the cheap one to start. Especially when I think of the thick mud that was all over it last week! [/QUOTE] baa75 brought up a good point in my mind. If you buy an old beat up jumpsuit off ebay, because youre not sure what kind you should buy new, remember when youre ready to buy your brand spanking new jumpsuit you'll be able to resell your old one! These things don't really decrease much in value once they've reached a certain life. 150 jumps is pretty much the same thing as 250 jumps, on ebay. Keep that in mind! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #11 June 19, 2003 Hi Betty! How long did it take for you to get your Hot Bod suit. I am ordering one tomorrow. I am 5 ft. 100 lbs., and I want a serious RW suit made to fit me. I think that I know what options that I want, but do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
 baa75 0 #12 June 19, 2003 Hi! It took about 3 weeks with the rush ship. It looks great! I wanted the fastest suit possible. I got about everything I could on it. (inside grips, booties w/zips, cordura seat & knees) The extra $20 for the rush is nothing once you've already added all that. I do suggest that you have someone who knows what they're doing measure you if possible. And go over all the measurments 2x. Its a tight fitting suit so you want it done right. Oh, price was $315 including tax & rush shipping. BettyAnn Getting married? Check out my website! Anyway, if I order it today, she said that the rushed job would be 4-6 weeks, not including shipping (which is 5 more business days).
