std. cam settings - "how to" - what do you use?

Hi to all out there,

I'd like to get some information about std. settings for cam use.

I'll use PC1000 with a .5 lense
- how do you set the focus
- disable autofocus
- what else is helpfull
- which settings do you use

manual focus to infinity
sports mode (sometimes portrait - for the special shots ;-)
white balance: outdoor (some use manual... i personaly dont like it)
