ivanrockon 0 #1 June 25, 2008 I do plenty of videoing tandems and have classic old bh mindwarp with pc110 on the left ear side of the helmet and canon xt on the top. Been looking for a top mount helmet to put both cameras (side by side) on top. But since there is no skydiving store in my island (to grab and test any of these helmets) nor a top mounted helmet in my dz. I need to have the top mount configuration for personal reasons that I will not discuss here, been very undecided on which helmet to buy/consider. BH FTP is seems like a no brainer but is quite out of my budget. Vapor Wes Pro or Vapor Narrow seems more affordable. But since I don't have any other way (only internet shopping) to try to decide wish one to buy. Please I wish to know advantages or disadvantages on your top mount helmet\factory customer service\quality\safety\easy of use and set up your stuff up there\etc. Any input will be helpful!!! Please wish to receive feedback on top mount helmets only, I already have a multi sided camera helmet setup. Thanks! Ivan "Rock On"
Squeak 17 #2 June 25, 2008 I too do not have acess to Helmets to try on the problem i have with all helmets is that i have a small head and i find that a lot of the helmets i can try on dont fit. So unless you can actually try on different helmets I would be dubious about buying them online. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! MisterCrash 0 #3 June 25, 2008 You could also try measuring your small head. Just a tought. It worked for my big head. All speeding past collide and crashing, I'm in paradise.
ivanrockon 0 #4 June 26, 2008 So many camera flyers out there and so far no feedback? Only a response from another skydiver with similar problem. Please, there is got to be someone willing to share information!! Ivan "Rock On"
sinjin 0 #5 June 26, 2008 i just switched from a bh optic to a bh flat top.. the ft is much cleaner with both cameras on the top.. the ft takes some time to break in and get comfy even with baking. the only other downside for me is it feels very strange flying headdown.. i can feel the flat surface and will take some time to get used to. i have not tried a vapor.. in term of sizing use the head measuring charts for BH and they have worked fine for the last two bh i have purchased... i also bought used and i worked out nicely,,,, also if you can wait six months,, bonehead does bone bonds where you double your money in the 6 month period. any other questions just ask..dont let life pass you by

Squeak 17 #7 June 26, 2008 QuoteYou could also try measuring your small head. Just a tought. It worked for my big head.aside from being a smart arse, there is more to it than just a mere circumference the shape of the head is also very important to the fit. There are helmets out there that are sized for my head that fit very poorly, and others from a different manufacturer that fit much better. the actual measurement is only one of the considering factors, especially if you are going to load up the helmet with a full camera kit.You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! PhreeZone 20 #9 June 26, 2008 What it means is you give Bonehead $400 now and then wait 6 months, they give you $800 credit towards a helmet order to be placed then. My understanding is that if the helmet comes out to be $710 you just get the helmet, no excess cash refunded. Its a great option for someone that has a few hundred dollars laying around and can wait 6+ months to get their helmet. In the case of an FTP you are still looking at a few week delivery time once your order is placed so its really a 7 or so month time. Bonehead wins since they have operational capital they can use for 6 months for other items, you win since you get a helmet 50% off if you can wait.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
DSE 5 #10 June 26, 2008 It's a good program. Imagine being able to buy a helmet for camera flying when you only have 30 jumps, but you can't get it for at least 6 months...nice deal.
Mustang69 0 #11 June 26, 2008 I wish I had known that... I saved birthday and Christmas money for two years, then paid full price. Instead, I could have given them $400 after one year and would have had the helmet 6 months earlier. Edited a typo. (Tears made the keyboard slick...) DougH 270 #12 June 26, 2008 That is actually pretty cool. I might have to consider that. Put the money away now, and get it during the off season so you are ready to go for the next year. You can order your helmet anytime during the 6 months but it won't be shipped until the 6th month. Why would we make you wait another month?
