fbalfano 0 #1 June 24, 2008 I'm absolutely brand new to camera flying. Still haven't done the first jump yet. I have a Sidewinder helmet and a Sony PC101. The helmet has a plate on the side where the camera goes and seems to have a hole where I should be able to screw into the tripod mount. It's not lined up. Also, I need to have the camera higher so I'm wondering if there is a part that might connect the 2. I bought the helmet used so no manual. I've also visited the skysystems website with no luck. Lastly, the side doesn't close with a batery. I'm told that the helmet is for PC series cameras so I'm pretty sure that it's the right helmet. Wondering how different the cameras are, etc. Anyone...Please help. FrankFrank Alfano, C1, C2, IA, SSI, SSE, CA, LE, Tandem Master C.S.P.A. C-3118 U.S.P.A. pilotdave 0 #2 June 24, 2008 I think the sidewinders were built for one particular camera. Obviously yours was not built for a PC101. You might be able to modify it, but your camera just doesn't fit that helmet. The PC-series cameras vary in size and shape by a lot. http://www.skydivingmovies.com/wiki/index.php/Video_Cameras#Sony_PC_Series Dave
TheCaptain 2 #3 June 24, 2008 Unless you buy a camera helmet new and for the specific camcorder you have , some assembly may be required (ie... you may have to modify some stuff). First off what battery are you useing? Most all side mounts will only allow the smallest battery made for the camera. After getting the smallest battery made for the camera find the position it will need to be in, in order to get the cover to close. Next drill a new mounting hole if needed to use the tripod screw. Lastly as far as height , you will need to make a spacer to center the camera in the lens cutout area. When I had a sidewinder I had to use a 3/8" spacer to center my PC105 in the lens cutout area.Kirk He's dead Jim
