VanillaSkyGirl 6 #1 June 12, 2003 Does anyone know whether or not a Reflex R350 can hold larger than a 150 main? Could I possibly fit a Spectre 170 in there? The harness is 14" & the reserve is PD 143. I am looking for a main. PD is currently unable to send a demo Spectre 150, but they can send a demo Spectre 170 main. Should I wait until they have the 150 demo or try to 170? Please help. Skycat? Anyone?
diablopilot 2 #2 June 12, 2003 It's going to be a real pain in the a$$ to pack, but it's been done before. I mean a REAL pain....---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

It will not hold a Silhouette 170. Never tried a lower volume 170 like a Spectre.
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #5 June 12, 2003 Have you done/seen this done?
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #6 June 12, 2003 Ok, thank you...I am still not sure what to do. If I get this, the there's a chance that it may not go into my container. (Sigh) BTW, this is Kelli's old rig.
diablopilot 2 #7 June 12, 2003 Yes. My recomendation would be to get a bigger container, or wait for the correct size of canopy.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #8 June 12, 2003 Yes, thank you for your suggestion. That is the obviously the best thing that I could do. However, I have been trying to find a Spectre 150 for sale or to demo, but it hasn't been easy. I was asking because if I were to have the Spectre 170 demo main for a couple of weekends then I would try it out in my used (new to me) rig. My rig has been sitting on the sofa for weeks while I've been renting because I do not have a main, yet.
billvon 3,107 #9 June 12, 2003 >Ok, thank you...I am still not sure what to do. If I get this, the >there's a chance that it may not go into my container. (Sigh) Well, keep in mind that you can always make it go in the container with the right closing loop. The issue is that - is it safe enough? If you can close the container, no canopy fabric or lines are showing, the pin covers still work, and the bridle can be routed normally, it is probably safe to jump even if it's ugly. If it's a demo canopy, and you're only going to put a few jumps on it, it may be worth putting up with the ugliness.
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #10 June 12, 2003 Yes, I was asking for the SAFETY issues. Yes, it's a few jumps. I will think it over tonight. Thank you for your wise words, Billvon!
robskydiv 0 #11 June 13, 2003 Hey VSG, did you ever get that new jumpsuit in?
VanillaSkyGirl 6 #12 June 13, 2003 Yes, I've been wearing it at Elsinore. I am still too shy to post a pic...sorry. Edited to correct a typo.
robskydiv 0 #13 June 13, 2003 That's ok. I've been thinking about buying a new one myself. I noticed a hole in the back of my current one and I have to clean it alot. Time for a new one. Any ideas on color coordination?

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #16 June 15, 2003 Thank you so much. This is good to know! It was tight, if that pack volume for the spectre 170 is correct it will not fit. Due to the very small harness over stuffing the main container will make it uncomfortable. They did a few things such an narrowing the yoke and "stepping" the container up on the harness to make it fit better. So in a way it's not as flexible to over stuffing as other containers in the same size. Reflex doesn't have the stats up for this container anymore but the canopy sizing for it was 150/135 main 150/135 reserve. I do not recommend putting a 170 in it. On BillVon's web site I found these pack volumes, so while I still don't recommend it, it looks like it may fit. This was one of the reasons that I knew that I could trust that nothing crazy had been done with the container. It's in better shape than I had hoped for and the price was out of this world. Thank you, again, Kelli. You rock!
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
