Sverre 0 #1 June 10, 2003 Just finished my AFF course, and am now in the process of collecting advice regarding the purchase of second hand gear. I weigh in at about 90kg/180pounds. What kind of setup would give me most fun and safe rides ? All advice is greatly apperciated!Blue skies!
fundgh 0 #2 June 10, 2003 Over in my neck of the woods, it would be common to find a Javelin, Mirage, Vector, or similar with a Sabre or Spectre in it. I am not sure what size you would want or what is available... I have also seen a few people flying Falcons and Triathalons......FUN FOR ALL!
AggieDave 6 #3 June 10, 2003 First of all, congrats on finishing AFF! IMHO, you should talk to your instructors to have them help you find a canopy and container and reserve that would work best for your size, weight and skill level. Other then that, my advice would be for a first rig, buy used. You'll bif it in and out grow it (skill wise) over the course of the next couple hundred jumps, so you'll save money that way. Once you have talked to your instructors, you'll find a great Classifieds section for you to search for gear here on this site.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." jerry81 10 #4 June 10, 2003 Seeing that you're from Norway, you might want to check out the classifieds on headdown.net. And talk to your instructor about what you need. He knows you better than we do.

andy1 0 #6 June 11, 2003 Gratulerer Sverre! I finished the static line course this year (in Stavanger). I got so fed up looking for used gear (the choice was so limited) I ended up buying new. The USD to NOK exchange rate is so good that you can buy a decent new rig for the same price as many used rigs in Norway. There might even be someone on your DZ that can help out with 'importing' it (if you know what I mean).
Sverre 0 #7 June 11, 2003 TakkerGuess I´ll try to find a rig in the states, I´ll be driving across it with a friend in 2 weeks time (trying to get as many jumps as possible on different DZ´s).Blue skies!
