witchcraft 0 #1 June 5, 2003 i have been seeing ads for rigs utilizing paraglider sails in the rigs, i can understand the use for one but do they perform , rather open, like a skydiving canopy?>
quade 4 #2 June 5, 2003 Generally speaking no. People have a tendancy to stay aloft in a paraglider much longer than would be comfortable in a skydiving type harness. A typical paraglider harness comes in two styles; one more seat like and one where the pilot lays prone. The one that is more seat like is more common. Also paragliders do not to my knowledge ever deploy from a terminal speed freefall. All of the ones I'm aware of are designed to be foot launched (kited) from a hill. People have static lined them from balloons, helicopters and such, but that's very unusual.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

BenGriffiths 0 #5 June 6, 2003 QuoteThere was a site posted not so long about a paraglider that could be used for skydiving. The site is at www.para-gear.com. You can't link directly to the page, so you've got to go Homepage/MILITARY/Tactical Systems/PARIS It's basically the sort of rig the military would use on a HAHO jump.---------- Ben G Still Sinking :-(
