BlueSBDeath 2 #2 December 22, 2007 I think they are all able to be done, however; I would think that while FFing you would not want a camera to take away some of your field of view while on your head. All top mounted makes more sense to me for your setup options. My 2cents Arvel
PhreeZone 20 #3 December 22, 2007 It also depends on the format you need to deliver your photos in. For example for the most part RW and tandems should be in Landscape and freeflying could be in either depending on the formation. CRW tends to be portrait driven since their formations are much taller then they are wider. Since you are freeflying start loking at some of your past video to see what way woud capture the action better.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
LouDiamond 1 #4 December 23, 2007 You are going to be hard pressed to get the cameras to fit in the side by side shot. Since you are just concerned with FF I would recommend you side mount the video on the left side of the helmet and top mount the still camera in landscape mode. I don't think the overhang idea will work too well without being a snag hazard or really awkward balance wise with a still mounted to it due to the shape of the forehead area of the helmet."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
parachutist 2 #5 December 23, 2007 On my original Optik I ended up mounting the still cam on top, with vid cam 1/2 way between top and side mount. This makes a wide video camera seem about half the width. It's worked well for me on weight/balance, and the lenses are very close to each other, so they both catch pretty much the same shot in close quarters. http://www.funjump.com/photos/hdrcx7mic03.jpg Going by photos, it loos like that would work on the Illusion too
sinjin 0 #6 December 24, 2007 here is an optic with still on the top, video on the side with a d-box and 580 ex II fill flash mounted on the box ... i think you would be hard pressed as someone else mentioned to sqeeze both up top.. i think parachusist high side mount is the next best option..dont let life pass you by
