fraying brake lines?

Recommended Posts

The only rigs I've jumped are our student gear at my DZ. I've noticed the brake lines have become kind of fuzzy where you stow them. I have not looked at any other "sport rigs" but is this a problem that people with velcro toggles have to deal with? How can you stow your excess line without fraying your brake lines? How often do they have to be replaced (I assume more often than the entire line set?)

Thanks:)

Yes. When you have velcro toggles you get this problem. The best way to avoid it is to buy velcroless toggles. You can also try to not leave any of the line between the velcro hairs.

When it gets too hairy just change the ends. The ends of the steering lines are easy to change and does not cost so much.

Run the excess brake line up through the loop (for the link) in your risers, then back down around the top of the toggle and stow it. Note: The risers will have to have a keeper for the top of the toggle for it to work.
