murrays 0 #1 June 4, 2007 Hi, This is non-skydiving related but I just had a friend give me one of those small DVD-RW disks from a Sony DVD100 Camcorder to see if I could make copies for him. When I put the disk into my old imac at home it tells me I have inserted a blank dvd disk and asks what I want to do. When I put it into my fairly new Sony DVD player it tells me it cannot play the disk. Do these disks need to be "finalized" before anything else will recognize them as having data in DVD format? I am sure that if they get recognized by my Mac as a DVD I should be able to create a disk image using Disk Utility and then burn as many copies as he wants. Tips/Suggestions/Advice greatly appreciated. Blue skies, Murray
ltdiver 3 #2 June 4, 2007 As per Jeff Levy, yes the disc has to be finalized before it can be viewed. Heard it on his radio show just this past weekend. sidenote: He also recommends that people -don't- buy the DVD camcorder due to its poorer quality of footage (already compressed). He continues to recommend the miniDV tape cameras (like we all like to use here). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
