Erik 0 #1 May 26, 2003 Hi I'm looking for opinions on solid fabric spring loaded pilot chutes vs half fabric have mesh spring loaded pilot chutes. Blue skies Erik

riggerrob 643 #3 May 26, 2003 We covered this issue a couple of weeks ago. Basically if you have a Vector or Vector clone (i.e. Sidewinder or NARO), stuff a mesh-less "ballute" style pilotchute in your reserve container. If you have any other type of reserve container, then stuff in whichever meshed pilotchute is recommended by the manufacturer. Both designs work well. There are a lot of other variables related to rig width, cap diameter, spring configuration, ripcord configuration and flap sequence that affect pilotchute launches. So unless you are a pompous Master Rigger with plenty of drop test experience, you are wiser to stick with the manufacturer's original configuration. councilman24 37 #4 May 26, 2003 Maybe the answer your looking for is don't pick a rig based on the reserve PC design. It doesn't matter... Enough to care.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
