packing_jarrett 0 #1 March 24, 2007 Video or still settings What's your camera and what settings do you use for different types of skydives? Everybody has their own unique settings and I'm sure everybody would like to experiment other photographers settings. Do you use flash with you top-secret awesome shot recipe? or do you just put it on the sports mode and shoot away? I and a couple other people are interested in what modes/ settings you jump with.Na' Cho' Cheese

newshooter12 0 #4 March 25, 2007 -Nikor 16mm -Shutter Priority -1/320th minimum faster if it's really bright -Continuous Shutter -Lens cap OFF -Continuous Auto Focus -Matrix Metering pattern -Closest Subject priority focus -2Gig Lexar 80x -Cloudy WB Setting -Freshly cleaned and cat crapped lens (only had it fog up once unlike video) -.NEF file format aka... RAW - 0 exposure compensation unless i'm doing a shot into the sun where i don't want a sillouette I'll get the flash taken care of eventually, but i'm not excited to change more batteries, have the extra weight or just deal with one more piece of equipment. I like the silloutte sun shots personally anyway. Plus the RAW files leave a lot of latitude compared to .JPEGs. Matt
Costyn 1 #5 March 26, 2007 Canon 350D (Rebel XT): - ISO 400 - Aperture priority - f/10 (less if it's nearing sunset) - Auto WB - Spot metering - 10-22 lens set at anywhere in the range where I think I'll need it at that jump - AF point automatically chosen. - Continuous AF Sony PC105: - With 0.43 wide-angle (but with step-up ring, so probably around a 0.5) - Everything automatic except focus, which I set to infinity. - Sports mode on this videocamera will sometimes get you wierd vertical banding/stripes when the sun shines on the lens.Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
Fast 0 #6 March 26, 2007 QuoteDo a search, this has been talked about quite a few times haha yeah. My answer: Depends on what I am doing. I will fiddle with camera settings all day long trying to get the pictures to look how I want. There is no one, two, or three "right" settings. 100% varies based on conditions. I like to aim for over 1/250 and around f/10 for general shooting. Just to ensure a good DOF and that motion is stopped. Beyond that, I'll try just about everything.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me. Laszloimage 0 #7 March 27, 2007 Full manual, including the flash power as well, RAW files, and no faster than 1/320 (because of the flash...) ...sometimes AF. I have a variety of lenses and cameras. Video for tandems auto is fine... Video for production kinda stuff, manual again.
