Dokeman 0 #1 January 6, 2007 which still/video quick release mount are you guys using.. Right now I have a 2 strobos and both cameras have a lot of play in them with they are mounted.. So much that you can sometimes see the video shake a little. What the most sturdy/secure/longest lasting quick release? Without a box. I have seen several mentioned and in ads but never held one in my hand. Bonehead, cookie, Schumacher, etc?

PhreeZone 20 #3 January 6, 2007 What type of plates are on your Stroboframes? The 300-Vid on the video? Do you have an Anti-twist plate on the still? Are you getting play in them when they are closed al lthe way?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Miami 0 #4 January 6, 2007 Using Schumacher Quickshoes for both video and stills on my top mount. The plate for the video has an alignment pin as well...keeps it lined up exactly the same when you have to pop the plate off to change tapes.Miami
icevideot 0 #5 January 6, 2007 QuoteI have a 2 strobos and both cameras have a lot of play in them with they are mounted.. I had the same problem so I put a layer of gaffer's tape on the underside of the plate. It totally eliminated the problem and I have only replaced it if I needed to remove the mounting screw for some reason. I also highly recomend the anti twist plate for the stills but it won't fix the looseness you are talking about."... this ain't a Nerf world."

Dokeman 0 #7 January 7, 2007 where's the best place to get the Schumacher? They seem a little pricey at paragear.
pilotdave 0 #8 January 8, 2007 Miami sells them. Only issue I have with mine, which I could probably fix, is that the hex screw that holds the plate the the camera loosens over time. I haven't used any thread lock though, which would probably keep it in place. Twice I had my camera loosen on the ride up. It wasn't so loose it could come off, and the cam-eye wire kept it pointing in the right general direction, but the camera could turn freely over about 20 degrees. I straightened it as best as I could and jumped. Pics actually came out fine...just off center a tiny bit. Now I carry the allen wrench that came with it under the helmet padding so I can always tighten it down... and I check it often before boarding. It's also not a super solid connection when attached... i mean you can wobble the camera a tiny bit. Doesn't seem to be a problem, but it's something I noticed. Probably could be fixed with some gaffers tape or something, but it has to slide on and off. It's really a TINY bit of movement, nothing I'd worry about. Hmm, those are both very unusual (at least from anything else I've heard or experienced with them). For the first problem, does the hex screw freely turn in the plate? If not it should, but I have come across a couple that don't. It's an easy fix if it doesn't, just overtighten the screw with it only in the plate (not attached to a camera)...it will strip off the last bit of threading on the screw so that it will move freely...then you can make sure it is a tight fit on the camera. For the second problem, where does it seem loose? Between the base plate and the camera plate? And how much movement is there? Mine don't seem to move at all so I wonder if it is just a fluke? If it seems like it is too much movement or the screw keeps giving you trouble let me know and I'll replace it.Miami
