Zee 0 #2 November 19, 2006 You need to get a capture card or just a fire wire card. They're pretty cheap. Action©Sports
Icon134 0 #3 November 19, 2006 If you have an open card slot (PCI) in the computer you should be able to find a firewire card for a reasonable ammount of money ($10-$15) or less.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

However if your laptop is old (more than 2 years), you may not have the necessary Processing power, Memory or Storage space to edit digital video, or it maybe frustratingly slow. Edited to add: Opps I was still asleep, thought it was a laptop for some reason. PCI is what you would want for a desktop of course.

PCMCIA or PCI depends on whether the guy has a pc or a laptop. They are not interchangeable. You can edit fine on even a 4yr old laptop, however it takes longer and programs like premiere pro 2 are not likely to work. But I've been editing for years, so saying it won't work is not entirely true. Although it's a nice excuse to buy that new 17" dual core laptop ciel bleu, Saskia
idrankwhat 0 #6 November 20, 2006 For your desktop, this one works well and you can't beat the price. http://www.acortech.com/Generic_4_Ports_IEEE_1394_Card/partinfo-id-320569.html
