WatchYourStep 0 #1 July 26, 2006 Well my camera came yesterday (Sony HC42) now all I need is the helmet and lens. My friend suggested a Kenko .45 W/A Lens. When I do a Google Search for: "25mm kenko lens" I don't get a ton of places that sell it. The price I seem to find is about $80. Am I just looking in the wrong place or what? If you don't like this lens what do you all suggest? Thanks "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. vdschoor 0 #2 July 26, 2006 Kenko doesnt make any wide angle lenses with a 25mm thread.

WatchYourStep 0 #5 July 26, 2006 Dang .6 for $35 or .45 for $80. They must be proud of that little guy. Any other suggestions? If not I'm going to order the .45 from Kenko. I see people going way too wide with their wide angles, I'd say give the .6 a shot, my favorite wide angle is the Kenko .5.
Dokeman 0 #7 July 26, 2006 check on ebay. thats where I have gotten all of my camera gear. And they make step up rings for cameras with smaller threads. For a first lens, the kenko .5 and sony .6 are good. The kenko .42/.43 all also good. Just depends on how wide you want to go and what your are going to be filming. also, I have gotten all of my kinko lenses for under $35. so shop around a little
Icon134 0 #8 July 26, 2006 the sony 0.6 is actually fairly wide... Quade (the green guy in that made the sticky at the top) actually has a page that shows the difference between a few typical WA lenses... Wide Angle Comparison I have a Sony 0.6 on my Sony HC-32 and wouldn't want to go any wider (especially for RW video) ScottLivin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Absoutely agree, especially for a beginner, I still stand by my recommendation to learn to shoot video without a wide angle lens and they add it as you become more proficient
WatchYourStep 0 #10 July 27, 2006 Thanks vdchoor. I'll give the .6 a go. I'm sure it will do all I need it to do at this point. I'll post pictures when my helmet gets in with the set-up. I'm going to give the Hypeye a shot since I don't want to drill on my helmet and the Rawa box has a section cut out that allows you to turn the camera on and off in the box. yardhippie 0 #12 July 28, 2006 My Kenko .5 has been a great lens. I did get the Pro version, I think it was about $45 3 years ago. Im looking at widening my angle of view now that I'm "inside" many more formations rather than outside. With my .5 its tough to get more then 2 in the shot on a tight 4 way base. I'll not get rid of my .5 though, its nice for big track dive other such stuff. just my .02Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #
