PhreeZone 20 #1 July 3, 2006 Anyone ever get an error message like this on your Canon Still camera? I got it this weekend and have read about dozens of "solutions" online form formating the memory card to a complete refurb at Canon and was wondering if anyone had a solution for this,Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Stumpy 284 #2 July 3, 2006 what is the problem - the camera now won't work or you want to try and recover the pictures? or both? If its the first, does it now do this with any memory card?Never try to eat more than you can lift
PhreeZone 20 #3 July 3, 2006 Problem is it had quit taking pictures in the middle of a jump and I lost most the stills for a customer. Once I turned the camera off and back on it started taking them again. I shot another 15 and it was fine, but I'm looking for a solution to prevent it from breaking again.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
DSE 5 #4 July 3, 2006 Check the contacts on your card. Sometimes those can be dirty. A small amount of isopropyl/rubbing alcohol on a swab, clean em, and should be good. Another option is to LIGHTLY use a white rubber eraser, the kind normally used for pen, not pencil, to gently clean those contacts. Poor contact can easily be responsible for corrupted files. If you are trying to recover the pictures you shot there is software out there that you can use to try to recover it, they sell it at ritz. If you are trying to prevent it from happening in the future, reformating your card after about every 5 jumps has worked for me so far. For what ever reason, the "data folders" on the card do not delete all the time and fill the memory of the card up with nothing you take a few photos and then get the error. Thats the best explaination I can give you for it and the best method of preventing it from repeating itself in the future. If you find a better explaination or solution let me know. thanks
PhreeZone 20 #6 July 3, 2006 I'm gong to look at the contacts, but I reformat before every jump so I don't think thats it. I shoot on SanDisk cards so I'm going to see if I can't get a replacement card and shoot on my backup card for a while.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
