skydver 0 #1 June 25, 2006 I'm looking for a new lens for my Rebel XT. I shoot tandem video and i use a .43 on my video camera. when i used a 35mm camera i shot with a 24mm fixed lens to save on weight and length of lens. Now i use the kit lens (18-55mm) and i want to up grade. what is the best to use? fixed or zoom? brand? size? i dont want to spend a fortune or add any more weight than i have too. i'm looking for the experts advice. freefalle 0 #2 June 25, 2006 Im sure you already know there is a conversion factor of 1.6 with your digital camera, so if you were happy with what you had to get the same results you would have to use a 15mm lens. May people like the Sigma fixed 15 it seems to be pretty popular.
LukeH 0 #3 June 25, 2006 it depends on your flying style. if you like to fly on top of what you are shooting, or in formations then a fixed 15mm may be good. otherwise i'd say a Canon 20mm for fixed, or if you want to be able to change the Canon 10-22 or Sigma 10-20. lots of people do use the Sigma 15mm, but lots of those people shoot frames full of blue sky and not full of the subject. on the plus side it does make framing easier. do you like the fisheye effect? ScottyInAus 0 #4 June 28, 2006 I use the Canon 15mm Fisheye, you can't compare the glass to the kit lens, it just looks great. Fairly wide lens, I was actually surprised when got it, very happy with it. I reccommend this lens. Cheers, Jason.
