gofast_ER 0 #1 April 15, 2006 Ok so I read that a dv is better than dvd for skydiving. Why is this? Would a dvd cam be ok for someone just starting? I don't really know what info to ask for. Im new at this. Can anyone here help me out a little? Give some info or direct me to some source of info? Thanks.I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.
Icon134 0 #2 April 15, 2006 I think DV is generally better because it is less sucesuptible to Jaring and such... but that's just my guess... I actually have no idea why people don't use it.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...

DVD burners (or cameras) probably won't do too well in freefall and with multiple-G canopy openings... DVD recorded media is harder to work with for video editing (IMO), and I think that DV has a higher raw quality than the DVD camcorders, I think the DVD cameras compress the video as they write it. ltdiver 3 #4 April 15, 2006 Besides the DVD camera not being a good choice to withstand freefall, take a look at THIS THREAD where compression ratios are discussed. I'll take the miniDV tape over DVD any day. No compression and better quality of picture. btw, try the "Search" function on this site instead of "Google" next time. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
