Price Estimates for Gear

I have a rig for sale and would like to know how much it's worth in $US (I know that ads should not be posted in the forums... but this is just an advice on price, not an official classified).

Container: Racer (DOM 1993) excellent condition
Main: Sabre 135: approx 550 jumps, will need to be re-lined soon (according to my rigger, approx 50 jumps) Excellent condition as well
Reserve: Raven 150, never jumped
AAD: Cypres 2-pin DOM december 1999

So, what do you think?

I would take a stab at a guess and say between $1800 and $2000 US. but that's just a guess. best thing to do is look at the prices of similar gear in similar condition.Go to the classified ads and see what's listed, that's what I did and I sold my gear rather quickly and for a fair price.

Container - $300ish
Main - $600ish
Reserve - $500-600ish (assuming d.o.m. is close to container d.o.m.)
Cypres - $500-600ish (will need four year and batteries in December, right?)

I'd figure somewhere around $2100 would be fair.

Age has nothing to do with the value .......dirt, use and wear and tear are the only things that actually depreciate the value. I would suggest that it's only worth what you would be actually willing to pay for it yourself as if it were from another diver, totally unknown to you.......or you can look at it another way, it will sell for only what another is willing to part with and you are willing to accept........Ultimately if you are only going to go by what others tell you, I will give you 25.00 for the whole set and you pay the shipping........How's that for a deal?

Use your head and contact the maker's and ask if they will give you a value based on how they dispose of used gear that comes back in for trade....

Oddly enough, if you contact the Manufacturer's you will be surprised at how smart they are and how good you feel after they impart some valuable knowledge your way.

Actually age has a lot to do with the value. Many older containers are not "freefly safe" - this affects resale value. Some older containers are not Cypres ready - this affects resale value. Cypres units have a 12 year service life - age is a big component of the resale value for those. Older reserves may not be reinforced like newer ones, therefore they may not be appropriate for the desired loading (i.e. anything over about 1.1) - this affects resale value.

It's not the only thing to consider, but it is part of the equation.

Main: Sabre 135: approx 550 jumps, will need to be re-lined soon (according to my rigger, approx 50 jumps) Excellent condition as well: $600 to $800 after reline ($400 to $600 without reline);
Reserve: Raven 150, never jumped: $250 to $350;
AAD: Cypres 2-pin DOM december 1999: Use the used Cypres estimated value calculator on SSK's site.

So, what do you think?: You can usually get more for a whole rig than you can get for the parts just because everything fits and it's usually color-coordinated (and it's all assembled, so it's more convenient). How much more depends on the condition, colors, and harness size, as well as what else is out there.
