Deuce 1 #1 March 18, 2006 http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Sony_Handycam_HDR_HC3/4507-6500_16-31749257.html?tag=sub We've got a guy flying the HC-1 at our dropzone (not a staff camera flier) and it is truly the bomb when it gets dark enough for our Hi-def projector to show it off on our big screen. The HC-1 is pretty big, though. So here comes the HC-3. It has a lanc port and a firewire on board, and that lack is one of the biggest complaints on the newer PC cameras. Street price is going to be about what I paid for my 120 when it was brand-new. I was discussing this with some other pretty serious videographers, that when my pair of PC 120's go belly up, that high-def is going to be the way to go. Watcha think? -I know that I'd like a switch for Pal to NTSC
Peej 0 #2 March 18, 2006 I don't know much about HD in a dropozone environment but i'm in the advertising industry and there are a lot of people that are very excited about it. I've messed about with a HD camera with some guys in the film industry and having watched what directors have done with it in movies like Collateral and Once upon a time in Mexico, i think it definately is the way of the future. lewmonst 0 #3 March 18, 2006 Yep, already thinking that, and we already started talking about it in another thread. Not ready to shell out the MSRP for the HC3 yet, but drooling over it for sure. There are a handful of HC1's being flown in Perris. I'll wait for the 3. Now that my 330's are behaving properly again (no thanks to a bad batch of tapes), I'll probably wait till one of them dies and justify a HC3 somehow... peace lewhttp://www.exitshot.com
quade 4 #4 March 18, 2006 Agreed Lew. The price is going to have to come down before I replace my video cameras with these. One side issue is that people are going to start shooting in 16:9 which probably isn't the best for formation skydiving since most formations are either round (4-way) or tall (CRW).quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Was thinking about this exact thing when I was setting up my new DVD recorder....why set up for 16:9 when the formations we're shooting don't have that shape? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
