Help, backlight turned on...

Recommended Posts

Ok, it's my own fault for not checking the video camera settings after letting someone else use it... I know, I suck! :$ Lesson learned.

The backlight button was turned on during a tandem video, sun to my back. Now, how do I fix this video? I know that parts are blown out, and pixel data can't be recovered, but does anybody have experience in making this at least look better? I didn't know if there was a 'recipe' for correcting this kind of thing... I'll play with the obvious (brightness, contrast, etc.), but hope there's some magic to correct this...

Worst case, maybe I can just put in so many distracting special effects, nobody will notice? :D Man... I don't want to put my name on this one... [:/]

Oh yeah, I'm using Vegas.

Thanks everyone!
Jeff

ps- already taped a washer to the back of my PC109 to prevent the button from being pushed... [:/]
Shhh... you hear that sound? That's the sound of nobody caring!

I had a similar problem.
After a long time fiddling around with brightness/contrast/
Gamma correction
Levels
Colour correction...
I got it close....but not totally corrected...
I was using Prem Pro 1.5

I just dont think you can make it 'right' but if you had the backlight on for the whole vid ( intro/ride and jump) perhaps you can correct the video as 'best as you can' and it can look acceptable.

Its just more noticeable if you cut it with footage where the backlight is off.....

Try and 'dull the bright colours' whilst keeping the contrast levels up....was my gameplan ...

I think this is kinda the mistake you only make once thankfully ...:S
