steveorino 7 #1 February 27, 2006 I have Premiere 6.0 -- no problems until tonight. The computer at the DZ was freaking out and crashing so I decided to take the videos home to edit. The original looks fine but premiere is getting glitches, bars and other "digital" looking crap when I capture. I switched firewire cables - same problem. I uninstalled premiere and reinstall it -- same problem. Ay ideas? steveOrino
Zoter 0 #2 February 27, 2006 I'll assume that you did import the footage into an NTSC project (Not PAL) on Premiere......I certainly have had some funky imports by trying to import PAL footage into an NTSC project. If thats not it......maybe somethings up with your video capture card......does it import other footage into Premiere OK..?
steveorino 7 #3 February 27, 2006 Maybe it is symantics (sp?) but I think my problem would be with "capturing" the video not "importing it" but I'll check when I get home from work. steveOrino
dragon2 2 #4 February 27, 2006 No idea if any of this helps any Is the harddrive defragged? Enough free harddrive space? Not running a laptop on battery power? Not running a lot of programs at the same time (Norton!)? Depending on your particular setup you can try changing pci slots for your firewire card. Tried a different tape? Different camera? Importing already captured NTSC footage into a PAL project and the other way round shouldn't be a problem, however capturing in the wrong format for the project will give problems. Which I think Zoter means. I had big problems importing HDV footage into a premiere hdv project, same digital crap you're experiencing, but after installing a plug-in (Cine-Form) I got it to work fine. ciel bleu, Saskia
steveorino 7 #5 February 27, 2006 QuoteNo idea if any of this helps any Is the harddrive defragged? yep - did that Saturday when the wind was up Enough free harddrive space? plenty 60 gigs free at least Not running a laptop on battery power? nope - tower Not running a lot of programs at the same time (Norton!)? nothing except al the crap that Microssoft runs in the background Depending on your particular setup you can try changing pci slots for your firewire card. very computer dumb here. If you mean trying each of the three fire slots - I did Tried a different tape? haven't tried that - but the tape runs fine in the camera - i wil try that when at home. Different camera? I'll have to try that later when I can borrow another camera - I have two, but one of the has firewire issues Importing already captured NTSC footage into a PAL project and the other way round shouldn't be a problem, however capturing in the wrong format for the project will give problems. Which I think Zoter means. not messing with PAL I had big problems importing HDV footage into a premiere hdv project, same digital crap you're experiencing, but after installing a plug-in (Cine-Form) I got it to work fine. Tell me more about this plug-in - again computer dumb Thanks for your help and suggestions steveOrino

If you mean trying each of the three fire slots - I did If your tower has a seperate pci card and not on-board firewire inside, then you could open up the pc and move that card to another slot. But only do this if you know what you're doing. This particular plug-in is for HDV footage only, and for Premiere Pro. Don't know if you're running any seperately-installed plug-ins that might conflict. Did you reboot the pc before working with premiere? Running out of ideas ciel bleu, Saskia
