DeepThought 0 #1 December 20, 2005 This has probably been posted 100's of times before by people like me, but.... I'm about to get myself a camera and helmet. I am thinking of getting a Cookie Mxv and a Sony DCR-HC42, with a liquid wide angle lense. I know this is not the best camera in the world, but I need to make a compromise between price, fitting in a helmet, skydive use and user for family and other occasions. Can anyone see any problems or issues with this choice, or can you sugest a better choice for a similar amount of money. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it. Miami 0 #2 December 20, 2005 QuoteCan anyone see any problems or issues with this choice, or can you sugest a better choice for a similar amount of money. Do a search for the FF2 (www.2kcomposites.com) on here, you'll find it is an excellent helmet, and it may save you a decent amount of money (not sure about the VAT since you are in the UK). You can PM me for more details if you are interested. Hope this helps...Miami
pcalandra 0 #3 December 20, 2005 There is absolutely nothing wrong with the HC-42 in my opinion other than it doesn't have an external microphone input. I put about 100 jumps on mine this year and it performed flawlessly As a matter of fact in my humble opinion it's hard to see any real quality difference in good light between it and the more expensive HC-90. medusa 0 #4 December 21, 2005 RAWA. I can give you a million reasons why to buy a RAWA, but I don't want to go to the same discussion on the forum. Off course I will gladly explain the advantages to you if you PM. Medusa Get Killed or Die Trying! Patent pending ATFK15456

The camera is nice - we have a widescreen TV so I like the widescreen feature of the 42. Pic quality, autofocus and audio is good. Very happy so far. The cookie helmet is very nice. I like the fit and I bought it with the cut-away which seems very practical. I now need to get a rigger to remove the strap and replace with a velcro arrangement so I can switch easy between family use and skydiving. So from my point of view - go for it.. --------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. When ants look like people - pray. mccordia 74 #6 December 21, 2005 Got my 2K FF2 last week....made my first few jumps with it this past weekend... The fit is amazingly comfortable and it's wonderfully snug on my head. The finish on the helmet is the best you could expect... No matter what you choose, but with 2K, you're definately going to be pleased with their product.... Nothing but praise!JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
Balu 1 #7 December 26, 2005 I also use the Cookie MxV with Sony HC-40 and HC-32. From my point of view a very good choice with a perfect helmet and good camera. I made lots of jumps with both cams, and also put them on the wings and tail of my glider to get some inflight video. They worked well at speeds up to 280 kilometres per hour and g-forces up to +6,5 and -4! I'm going to put a Canon EOS 350D on top of the MxV at the beginning of the 2006 season.1300 Sprünge, 100er Wingsuit Formation, viele nette Menschen kennengelernt, keine Unfälle. Schön war's!
