BillyVance 35 #1 December 19, 2005 Can anybody help? My friend told me today (he's not computer-saavy or a dropzone.commer) that he took his new PC109 on a few jumps and for some reason his fully-charged battery packs end up nearly drained after one jump. They are normally supposed to last 140 minutes or something like that, but they go from full to empty after one jump... What's going on? He's bewildered... damion75 0 #4 December 20, 2005 I have had mine go from 80 mins to zero in one jump a few times this winter - but it is about -14 at altitude plus wind chill and I don't think batteries like that... I really need an enclosed helmet (FF2 style) I think...*************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. Cold air runs the batteries down faster... suppose my friend wraps his cam in a condom then puts that in a d-box fitted for it, would that help prolong the battery's use on one charge?"Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
napaguy99 0 #6 December 21, 2005 All rechargable batteries can get a "memory" of their max charge. If the battery is consistently not allowed to run all the way down, the battery "thinks" it can only charge up to what you last let it get down to. A good way to overcome this is to always drain your battery all the way down. When my camcorder batteries start getting close to the end, I use them to replay video or drain them fully somehow. The Li-ion Batt don't have the memory effect (at least that's what the manufacturer says) and it's better to recharge them before you drain them completely. dragon2 2 #8 December 21, 2005 Li-ion or not, I still see the same effect. With both my laptop batteries and my camcorder batteries. Maybe less pronounced than with other batteries but it's still there. You have to take care of your batteries if you want to keep them in good condition for the longest possible time. ciel bleu, Saskia
