lintern 1 #1 December 8, 2005 Which model is newer and better ? The PC9 or the PC105 ? I cannot find anything on Sony's website about the PC9 ? I am looking to buy a second hand camcorder and I have seen both models for sale, but I dont know anything about the PC9 model.
mr2mk1g 10 #2 December 8, 2005 For most intents and purposes they're almost identical but the PC105 is newer and has a couple of extra features, eg it's got a pop up flash but it's also made from a bit more plastic and a bit less metal. IIRC the PC9 was the first PC camera with the M series battery - I wouldn't buy anything that didn't have an M series batter and both these do. Other than that I think the picture quality etc is probably exactly the same.
MarkM 0 #3 December 8, 2005 Here are the specs on both: http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Sony_DCR_PC105 http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Sony_DCR_PC9 Looks like the 105 has better still resolution(if you care about taking stills) and more CCD pixels.
Widgeon 0 #4 December 8, 2005 If you have a line on either of theses cameras used, let me know which you don't buy because I'll take either one. I can't find one anywhere.
MarkM 0 #5 December 9, 2005 You might keep an eye on Ebay. I've seen some 105's moving there. I just bought a HC40 off of Ebay for $275 and it has close to the same specs as a 105(just a little smaller CCD). Use a sniping application like http://www.jbidwatcher.com/ to help with the bidding. Superfletch 1 #6 December 9, 2005 I've had both of these... Video is pretty much the same. The 9 is a bit heavier but not enough to worry about... The 9 uses the same stereo plug that most Sony's use for the video hookups where the 105 has the new D shaped connector. Hasn't been a problem for me I just switch the hookups when I need to. The 105 has a 1MP stills capability but that doesn't effect your skydiving much... All and all they are pretty much the same and either one would work well. There almost identical in size too but just a bit different. They work in the same D-box's. Anyhow, you could probably pick up a decent 105 on eBay for about $425 give or take depending on how patient you are. I believe the 9's go for $350 or more also but I haven't paid too much attention there lately. At the moment I have (2) 105's and love them. Hope this helps.
