Sabre2 170 vs Spectre 170

Recommended Posts

this really depends on your personal canopy flying style and tastes. both of these canopies are extremely fun, safe and reliable, but they are built to cover two different areas of canopy flight.demo, demo ,demo. I'll say it again, demo!

ive jumped both canopies at a slightly higher wingloading and 190s at an identical wingloading.
theyre both awesome canopies, with awesome openings flying charicteristics and landings.

one thing that i hear all the time is that people always tell me spectres are impossible to land, i find that very hard to belive since its the most forgiving canopy out of all the ones ive tried.

i personally went for the spectre for these reasons
-forgiving landings/very powerful flare
-ability to sink it in
-long recovery arc and tight turning radius(might not be a plus for some)
-easy packing and soft openings (sabre2 being almost the same with the nose stuffed and tail rolled)

even though i went with the spectre im having a fun time demoing the crap out of a sabre2 till my rig is ready (since i snapped a suspention line on the demo spectre i was jumping:P)

I've jumped both in the 190 size. Prefer the Sabre2 (and bought one) for the following reasons:

-snappier turns
-better glide ratio
-easier to surf it in

Advantages I felt the Spectre have are:
-nicer openings
-easy to land straight in
-easier to pack
-less prone to poor body position on opening

Bottom line, fly them both and see which you prefer.
