dragon2 2 #3 December 2, 2005 Depends how much money you've got and what you want to do with it. I've got a 20mm nikkor lens myself, cheap option but the 30mm (compared to 35mm film) you get is fairly long. Works fine for my wingsuit jumps though. I also jumped the 16mm nikkor fisheye, don't really like the half-fisheye effect but still not a really expensive lens and the 1.5x16mm gives you a nice angle. For real fisheye the 10.5 mm is cool but I wouldn't use it enough to buy it. Coolest lens is the 14mm nikkor, but also very expensive... I'd like an 18mm best I think but haven't jumped or even seen one yet. Definately don't get a longer lens than 20mm. ciel bleu, Saskia
jimmytavino 16 #4 December 3, 2005 .... waited for the D70s which came available in may/june '05....... the package I bought included charger battery cables software (to unload pics into my computer) AND AN 18 -70mm AFS Nikkor lens... I did have to buy the compact flash card,,, so I got a Lexar 1 Gig....that writes at 80X..... the lens works just fine at the 18 mm setting and exits as well as freefall shots fill the frame nicely... Anyone else get the D70s ????? with a different stock lens???? I then got the wired remote ,,,after 3 months on backorder,,, and Newsshooter12 helped me figure out how to splice the conceptus t switch onto it... the jack from the remote (MC-DC1) and the port on the camera body have a unique plug arrangement,,,, so we had to splice the conceptus onto it...... only used it for maybe 20 jumps,,,toward the end of our jumping season.....worked just fine...jmy...o[:-)
dragon2 2 #5 December 4, 2005 Oh I got a stock lens (this shop lets you choose between a number of lenses) with my D70, it's just that I don't want to jump a zoom lens if I can help it. The one I have is rather crappy (cheapo sigma wide angle zoom), and even the GOOD zoom lenses are not as good as a fixed lens is. And the good zoom lenses usually are pretty heavy anyway. Also you have to tape the zoom of course. I also definately want a f/2.8 lens and most (cheaper) zooms are slower. But if you have a wide angle zoom and it's all you've got and/or you're perfectly happy with yours, yeah you can jump a zoom of course. ciel bleu, Saskia
