Bigwallmaster 0 #1 November 21, 2005 Hi. I am turning to you guys out of desperation. I would like to buy my first camera set up and I don't know what I'm doing. I have read multiple threads on this forum and and I am still not clear on which camera I should go out and buy. I would like to go to "Best Buy" (or online, whatever) and buy one this week. Can anyone give me a list of makes and models that would be appropriate for skydiving that are available at stores or online? Ps. I would prefer a camera that has the capability to transfer videos from mates' camera to my own. Is this possible? Thanks for you help. J.P.
Icon134 0 #2 November 21, 2005 The Sony HC Video cameras are very small and compact... They are also readily available at just about any store. They do have downsides (in that sony in all of their infinite wisdom figured that people wanted to use a docking station every time they wanted to use the firewire... and the remote plug (for a Cam-eye) is on the inside in a left mounted camera setup (which can be a problem... otherwise I really like my HC-32... I have a RAWA helmet that is made specifically for my Camera. ScottLivin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
dragon2 2 #3 November 22, 2005 I'm assuming you're talking about a video camera, not stills? Get a Sony. Nothing else. If you want to copy video to your camera you need DV-in, here in Europe there are a lot of models that have DV-in disabled, not sure if the same goes for the USA. For the rest, you need to decide if you want a topmount or sidemount, most models work better for one or the other. Most Sony models will work, but don't get one that writes to DVD or uses microMV tapes, you want a mini DV camera. There are models which have docking station where most of the ports are located, I don't like docking statons myself, it makes the camera smaller though. ciel bleu, Saskia

Yes, they do this to us a well. For instance, the TRV19 (no DV 'in') and the TRV22 (yes DV 'in'). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Bigwallmaster 0 #5 November 22, 2005 I am looking at getting the HC32 or the HC90. Do these models have DV-in? Also does anyone know if these models are appropriate for left mount?
