FrancoR 0 #1 October 28, 2005 Hi, i am thinking of getting a new Camera and Helmet. I want to get the camera now, because i want a PAL model since i will be in the US starting January. I could buy the Helmet later. I am looking into the Rawa at the moment and have a few questions. Does the Sony HC32 fit into the box on the Rawa? Is the plattform at the top fo the Rawva good for still photos? I haven't done still Photos but would like to start next year. Thanks FrancoIf it does not cost anything you are the product. outlawphx 1 #2 October 28, 2005 Here's a pic of a top mounted still on a Rawa (Not me BTW).
Dokeman 0 #3 October 28, 2005 I have a rawa and when you order it, you should have an option to choose which camera you have because they are not 1 size fits all. And I have a digital rebel mounted on the top of mine. I can post a picture if you would like.
Dumpster 0 #4 October 28, 2005 May I suggest you consider the FF2 from 2kComposites, also. I have one equipped to take an HC30 (Just like the HC32 in size and shape) and the camera fit is nothing less than superb. (As well as the fit on your head!) Easy Does It
Anvilbrother 0 #5 October 29, 2005 Please post your pictures. When I ordered mine I never got the option of having the metal plate and top mounting option for stills that I have been seeing alot of people with. Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. Anvilbrother 0 #7 October 30, 2005 Yea that is what I am going to do. Either that or the goldmember. I am kinda leary about the red plastic clips on the stroboframe. LouDiamond 1 #8 October 30, 2005 I did a review, with pictures on this a while ago. The thread can be found HERE"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
Dokeman 0 #9 October 30, 2005 yea... both of the red plastic thingies on mine broke. actually, one was broken when i got it. I just ended up going to home depot and getting some alluminum and making some.. havent had a problem with it since.
freeflydrew 0 #10 October 30, 2005 I just use a piece of gaffers tape on the top of the helmet and a simple thumb screw... the tape is so the camera doesn't spin. Here's a couple of pics from this weekend taken with the rebel xt on the top of the rawa.
Dokeman 0 #11 October 31, 2005 heres mine.. i can post more with my digital rebel on the helmet if you want..
FrancoR 0 #12 October 31, 2005 I think i will go with the thumbscrew solution, that enough for me. the Rawa doesn't seem to be a bad helmet for still camera. I will also take a look at the FF2, but i haven't seen one here in germany jet. Does anybody have an idea how to make still camera mounting more snag proof? I might have to make something from carbon or glass fibre to close the gaps. FrancoIf it does not cost anything you are the product.
Dokeman 0 #13 November 1, 2005 the quick release is nice if you need to change the battery/memory card in a hurry..
Anvilbrother 0 #14 November 1, 2005 Did you have to shim up the front or the back of the stroboframe to get it to line up with your videos, or to make it in frame in general? Dokeman 0 #15 November 1, 2005 nope.. lines up great.. but the only thing is that i am using the original kit lens that came with the camera and its not near as wide as the video lens, so i have to back up a little bit to get their entire body in frame. But thats not helmet realated though..
