StefB 0 #2 September 1, 2005 Is the stepup ring made of metal? Yes, then try to heat the ring a little bit. Then it will expand and release. You can use use a metal plate with 70-80°C (still touchable) and press the stepup ring on this plate until it is warm. When the ring is loose, remove it fast and cool the lens thread with a cold metal plate. Instead of heat you can use WD40 oil too. WD40 will creep between ring thread and lens thread eventually. But do not spray a large amount of WD40 in the parts!!! Use a small syringe with needle and apply very small drops. Wait some hours and reapply... wait... reapply...). The oil reduces friction in the thread. If nothing helps... Perhaps you can cut the ring with a Dremel tool and replace the ring with a new one. Good luck! adamd 0 #3 September 2, 2005 Whenever I have filters stuck I use a rubber band that fits snuggly around the ring and it normally provides enough extra grip that the stuck filter comes off easilt.
