andy2 0 #1 April 29, 2003 is there anything online that shows a good diagram of the container/main/reserve that labels every peice of hardware, risers, etc? I'm looking for something introductory so I can get used to the terms before I take a packing class. Thanks, it all seems a little confusing to me, I want to know what everything is perfectly instead of just float along ignorantly. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... skybytch 273 #2 April 29, 2003 Find yourself a copy of "Parachuting, The Skydiver's Handbook". There's a great section in there covering equipment.

nacmacfeegle 0 #5 April 30, 2003 To avoid floating along ignorantly...check out the links here.... http://www.dropzone.com/gear/articles/ http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/archive/gear/smartarchive.cgi?vc=Manuals Look at wings, and racer manuals, also any of the PD manuals. Packing is just the beginning, you should also familiarise yourself with gear checking, a bit like the pre flight check an instructor might have given you prior to boarding the plane. Good stuff here http://www.dropzone.com/safety/resources/safetychecklist/ and here http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/apr97/flightlinecheck.htm and here http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/aug96/lookafteryourkit.htm THeres a glossary here, http://www.dropzone.com/safety/resources/handbook/gloss2.shtml It may seem like a lot to take in, but most of it is plain old common sense. Oh and thanks to HH for storing a lot of this stuff on his site,Ideally your local rigger or experienced people, instructors, etc are best placed to help, but if anything concerns you, and you can't get what you want locally, just come back and ask on the forums. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
