ematteo 0 #1 July 27, 2005 Anyone have experience with stand-alone DVD burners? Speed, reliability, ease of use? Deuce mentioned using stand-alone for tandem student CDs but that limits you to 512MB. Looks like there is at least one product out there for DVDs: http://www.epinions.com/Addonics_AEMFR888D_DVD_RW_Burner/display_~full_specs Would be interesting to get feedback if anyone has used one (or has an alternative product). Thanks, Evan
jtval 0 #2 July 28, 2005 I am asumming you mean for downloading STILLS? I don't jump digital yet so I couldnt help you there. BUT I do know that DVD cost a bit more than CD's so if you are going to use a whole DVD to put a handful of digital pics on, you may find yourself spening more than you care to.My photos My Videos
Deuce 1 #3 July 28, 2005 Evan, we put like 200 pictures on the photo CD's we give the customers. Total overkill at the CD rate, We burn their video to DVD on a Philips DVDR 75, or whatever is next in that product line. They leave with a photo disc that they can use at the picture maker at Wal-Mart or wherever, and the DVD of their jump. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=282812&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
kelpdiver 2 #4 July 29, 2005 QuoteEvan, we put like 200 pictures on the photo CD's we give the customers. You're getting 200 stills on a jump now? Is that 3fps for the duration of the jump? Almost (almost!) too much of a good thing for the customer - how do they pick the best ones?
Deuce 1 #5 July 30, 2005 That includes ground shots from before and after, and if they have a lot of family around and are jumping with lots of friends, it provides lots of opportunities for pictures. A VERY long way from making sure to have just a few ground, a few in the plane, not too many in freefall so that you got the opening and the landing.
