StevePhelps 0 #2 July 9, 2005 Flat Top Narrow, Sony HC20, with Bonehead D Box, Digital Rebel, and oh yeah, cam eye 2, tongue switch, and ring site -- total weight: 6 lbs and 10 ounces.
jtval 0 #3 July 10, 2005 although thats light to carry around isnt it pretty damned heavy on your head? Man, I got whipped once and I have feared adding anymore weight on my headMy photos My Videos
StevePhelps 0 #4 July 10, 2005 It was heavy at first. I guess you get use to it.
 Brains 2 #5 July 10, 2005 Hey Jt, like Steve i jump a FTN. As a comparison to non digital, i jump a TRV19 on top in a d-box, use a Canon rebel (not digital) and of course the cam eye and tongue switch. Mine weighs just over 6 lbs. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
 jtval 0 #6 July 10, 2005 well I guess I could post my configuration as well.(didnt even think of it) my trv-22 is a top mount and the elph if mounted just below and infront of it on a Bone head optik. NOt exactly sure of the weight but its MUCH lighter than if I had a digi rebel on it. EDIT TO ADD: yes, cam eye. I used a paper asshole for my sight. I'm not really into the ringsights. they seem like a snag piont to me PLUS paper assholes are as cheap as you can get.My photos My Videos
 kansasskydiver 0 #7 July 10, 2005 Mine weighs just under 8lbs. Voodoo flat top, pc100 (no box), digital rebel/elan 7, 28-55mm lense, cam eye 2, blow and tounge switch, site. honestly i don't think it's that bad at all. i jumped a modified protec with a hockey chin cup on it before i got this helmet. it weighed less, but the CG on my new helmet is much better, and it's a tight fit, so it just feels like it's part of my head. Granted I haven't had a hard opening (knock on wood!) i've never experienced any discomfort and have flown with it on all types of dives, except birdman.<--- See look, pink dolphins DO exist! With the flash on it, probably another 1.5lbs or so. It's all about how the helmet is balanced, and what kind of equipment you are jumping, get yourself a canopy that opens nice.. and you won't have any problems.. And regarding the weight.. you build up muscle, believe me, I've outgrown several shirt sizes just because of my neck. Get the right tools for the job.. I had a custom made flash bracket made for the 550ex that attaches to my helmet using a Stroboframe, so it is easily removed when I don't want to bring the flash. I havent had any problems with the sabre 2's so I figured I would stick with it. as far as CG I dont have the $$ to buy a new helmet yet. so I am using my BH optik with a top mount trv 22- it doesnt leave much room to put a digital camera on and still have a good CG. I like my head attached. most digi cams are too big to mount side ways etc. (on the side of the helmet+ riser slap) I am kinda kinda thinking of setting up a STILLS only helmet. until I can get all the stuff I need for the full set upMy photos My Videos
 wingnut 0 #14 July 22, 2005 Quoteyou still using the hook for your ring sight or did you finally get a real one? that thing was nasty looking man i have a rreal onenow, and the "hook" as you call it wasn't that bad, worked and after i put the tapeon it it became just like any other ring sight.... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
 Join the conversation You can post now and register later.
