Zennie 0 #2 July 5, 2005 I had that error on mine. Mine gave that error when I put a tape in and tried to play or record. The screen just flashed that error with the "no tape" symbol and it dinged continuously. If that's what you're experiencing, it basically means the drive mechanism is fuxored. Had to send it back to Sony for about $300 to get the drive mechanism replaced. Before you send it back though try removing the batter for five minutes, turn the camera back on and reset the camera with that tiny reset button. That supposedly sometimes clears the error. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
Zennie 0 #3 July 5, 2005 Oh, and I found a site that discusses a "fix" for the error. Try it at your own peril. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon

jtval 0 #6 July 9, 2005 i get that error when I plug my Sony camera (trv-22) in while the battery is attached. the first time it happened I though my tape was jacked up, but then i noticed it only happened when the plug AND battery were on it at the same time. wierd I know, but the manual says that the C:31:_ _ errors are easily fixable by the consumer. its odd that the C:31:22 has such a wide variety of actully faults. most people say its the tape mechanism and I have seen other cams call out that error for such but mine must be picky abou the power sourceMy photos My Videos
Newbie 0 #7 July 19, 2005 Hi, you just missed out on a discussion on this in another thread here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1726587;search_string=c31;#1726587 C:31:XX errors are pretty common and can be a number of things. I got mine for the second time last week, changed the battery and tape, and it works fine again (for now). Check out that thread, hope it helps somewhat.
