Help!

So I am wondering if camera is maybe not for me. [:/] After having my last set of equipment stolen, I have decided to start over in the world of video. So far, I have run into some issues.

First off I bought a JVC as a replacement for my old Sony and I guess that was a mistake since everyone seems to fly Sony. I bought all the lenses and filters for the JVC, had to purchase some new long life batteries and chargers for it, etc. After all that when assembling and putting my helmet together, I come to find there is no LANC port on my JVC for my Cameye and well, this was not a good thing. [:/] I am probably going to have my hands full enough with the Cameye let alone without it.

So I have broken down and decided to get a Sony. I have done some research at the specs and prices and such and I like the TRV series. However, I have no idea which is better than the rest. I have heard to stay away from the TRV19, the TRV22 looks the best to me, however, they are more rare to find it seems. I have seen a lot of TRV33's on Ebay for a reasonable price but I can not find any literature on whether there is a LANC port or not. Does anyone know?

Also, I have read that the TRV33's are similar to the 22's, just that they have a little better picture quality (resolution or some fancy word for it) and I have read that the TRV33 is not as good at filming in darker conditions (something about a 7 Lux to 0 lux in night time conditions) ??? Can someone explain? Has anyone had any bad experiences with this? Does it even matter, I mean how often do we film at night?

WHat do you all think of the TRV33 vs. the TRV20 or TRV22?

Also, I guess I will need some type of adapter to let me screw all of my JVC lenses and filters into my new Sony. Since I think the lens diameters will vary, does anyone know a good place to buy one of these?

Last but not least, I bought a tongue switch from Conceptusinc and it said it was compatable with the Canon Rebel still cameras. I have the Canon Rebel EOS 2000 model and the prong on my tongue switch does not fit in the hole on my Rebel but it does fit on my friend's Canon Rebel. Aaaargh! >:(

Does anyone on this website have more of a clue than me? If so please help.

Thanks and blue skies.

What's up Jen!!

Any of the TRV series will do just fine, I picked up TRV17s off of eBay CHEAP! They are slightly older cameras, but they are super sturdy, don't have the touch screen buttons, and just all around GREAT cameras that DO have a Lanc port.
Also check out the TRV27, a great camera that can be found for a couple hundred bucks...

Thanks Iwan! Hey so the TRV17 doesn't have any downfalls? I just want something that will WORK and work well and be compatable with a Cameye2. We have all Digital MiniDV, they don't want us doing a whole lot of special effects, etc. Maybe a fader would be nice or some way to transition to another location.

Thanks for the advice Iwan! How is Cali? :$:PB| Say Hi to Geno and Chop Chop and Plaything for me.
