Question about camera mount?

When making a homemade still camera mount, does the mount need to swivel up and down in order to sight the camera in?

I've never seen one that did. At least, not that I recall.

Most people rough in the camera and then move the sight to align them.

I think that as long as you mount it so that it points straight ahead, at the horizon, when you have your helmet on, looking straight ahead, all you'll need to do to "sight it in" is to move the ring sight so that it is pointed at whatever is in the center of the camera's field of view when you don the helmet.

I'd be surprised if anyone actually swivels the camera instead of the ring sight.
