SixtySecRush 0 #1 May 30, 2005 I recently purchased a new Sony HC40 from a place going out of business, cheap price couldnt pass up. In another 150/200 jumps i will start flying camera with an FF2 setup. I will just be filming "jumps" in general. No tandem, AFF or anything. What is the suggested wide angle lens i should use with that camera?
sdctlc 0 #2 May 30, 2005 Sony has a good .6x lens that is cheap at B&H I use it for tandems and general RW but not good for really big ways or close Free Flying. Then you might want to look at the .45 orsmaller Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

My Sony .6 has a larger field of view than any .45 I've bought (or seen). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
sfc 1 #4 May 30, 2005 I use a .3 from cookie composites with mine and it works great. The .45 would probably do just as well.

I have only jumped my HC40 wih the 0.6 and I have ot had any problems.. Clean image and plenty wide with very litle distortion in terms of vinetting.. Easy to get ahold of and if its in a BC D-box the len sticks out a little but is not bad...... If you want to go flat then the Cookie or the Diamond seem to give that option. BTW, I top mount on a Batrack with a still as well and works great.. Scott C."He who Hesitates Shall Inherit the Earth!"

I have a .43 and a .25 from them. No vignette on either one with a pc105.
riggerrob 643 #7 May 30, 2005 I have gotten great results with www.royal-lens.com 0.3 and 0.2 wide angle lenses screwed onto my HC40. Mind you, I mainly do hand-mounted video. For helmet-mounted video, you will probably want a 0.45 or 0.5 wide-angle lens, just be sure to specify 25mm threads.
SixtySecRush 0 #8 May 31, 2005 Any good web sites to check into the different lenses?
