My Epson 1280 took a dump, and I can't get it fixed so I'm back in the market for a new printer.

It's been a while since we've done this, and I know printer models have changed.

Is everyone still using Epson? I'm a bit hesitant to do Epson again since I'm having so much trouble finding someone to fix the one I have.

Is anyone using HP or Canon?

What models, why did you pick it, and are you happy with it?

I am using a Canon I 900D and it is great, but now "old model". It was on sale, had an LCD window and the ink is water resistant. Had to ditch a Lexmark and an HP. Last time I checked, neither was producing a water resistant ink. Take a little moisture and put it to one of the pictures and you'll see what I mean.

I understand some of the Epsons are quite good as well.

Edited to add: My Canon also has the individual ink cartridges, about 6 + or - at about $12 each.

I'm with a HP 1310 it has a built in scanner that can work independantly. for the price it's a good deal. I paid 90 euros

Oh, it also has the Pictbridge socket, so I can print directly from the camera.

Not to fond of the HP software though.

I have an epson r300 that I drag to the dz every weekend. It only prints up to 8.5 X 11's but for $130 it's hard to beat. Individual ink cartriges. It prints borderless prints right from the memory card so I don't need a computer. And for another $20 I just got a little monitor that fits on it so I can crop and stuff.

I shopped around alot and this was the best I could find in that price range.

Any comments on the HP 8450?

I haven't used anything else so nothing to compare it too.

Make a print using glossy photo paper, then put a little moisture on it. I think you will decide HP is not a good printer to buy.
