Bryguy1224 12 #1 May 8, 2005 I recently purchased a Sony PC9 and was wondering what is a good side mount helmet that isn't too expensive? Also what type of wide angle lenses are used? I can't remember if its .5 .3 ect. Just what ones are the the standard to have. Thanks Bryan
tso-d_chris 0 #2 May 8, 2005 Bonehead Optic or a Rawa would both be good choices. Both would give the additional versatlity of top mounting your camera. I tend to advise against simply adding mounting brackets on to regular freefly helmets, such as a Mindwarp or Nvertigo (including NvertigoX). While such modular systems can work well (Gus Wing's camera helmet was one such good example, except his began as a hockey helmet, if I am not mistaken), but more often, the owners forego the gaffers tape necessary to eliminate snag hazards on the helmet, usually because gaffers tape is, well, pretty ugly. The camera specific helmets will give you a much cleaner setup so that you have fewer potential snag points to address For Great Deals on Gear
rhys 0 #3 May 9, 2005 i know many may disagree with me but just because you have a p.c. camera doesnt mean you have to go side mount. if you are only fun jumping then yes side mount is better for head level stuff but if you are doing mainly outside video top mount is much SAFER. i have frinds who have lost thier camera/leses/helmets from riser slap. especially in a reserve ride. 1 freind lost her helmet from riser slap on a reserve ride and had she not, she would probably have a broken kneck. look how much wider side monts are some are better than others but they are mostly very 'catchy' in my opinion cookie composites make the best side mount helmets in the world. well made light and not too bulky. just my thoughts."When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix
livenletfly 0 #4 May 11, 2005 parasport's evo with a chin cup is under 200 dollars and works great for freeflying. you cant mount a still cam so its no good for tandems or 4 way. its also a great looking helmet. ive seen them as cheap as 140 dollars.>

jmidgley 0 #6 May 13, 2005 Not on the 2K Composites website that I can see, but they do a model called 'Side FX' - flat side, chincup, two audible mouldings, Cameye 'nipple'. Got one. Comfy. Midway between the FF1 and FF2, price-wise. John
j3zz 0 #7 May 13, 2005 Try www.sky-designs.be A belgium maker the Zenith is one of the coolest looking lids around in my opinion and fairly snag free. The website is not the best but if you look in the photo gallery you will get the idea Tara Jezz "Now I know why the birds fly" Hinton Skydivers
